• WSABE 2020: Business Resilience Enters New Territory

Entries for the prestigious 30th Annual Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence (WSABE) have now closed with a record number of entries featured across sixteen awards categories ranging from a wide range of industries and fields, including the launch of the new ‘Excellence in Manufacturing’ category for 2020.

Considering the unprecedented circumstances that have emerged during 2020 and their adverse effects on business, WSABE have undertaken the responsibility of delivering a platform that develops, celebrates and showcases businesses throughout Greater Western Sydney. In delivering this platform in 2020 and standing by the business community, WSABE have received hundreds of applications highlighting resilience, adaptation and novel approaches to an entirely new set of business circumstances.

Previous cases of business triumph and resilience have also been showcased through the WSABE Leaders Collection, a digital publication capturing the aspirations and transformations of past winners and comprising a comprehensive story board of WSABE successes from across the years. This has enabled the WSABE platform to provide continued engagement opportunities for all WSABE winners throughout 2020.

This year more than ever it was imperative to champion WSABE, proudly founded by the Parramatta Chamber of Commerce in 1990, which can only be possible with the commitment of key partners such as Commonwealth Bank of Australia – who have extended their long-standing Principal Partnership with WSABE from 2020 – 2023. This year marks ten years of ongoing support from Commonwealth Bank to WSABE.

WSABE extends its appreciation to City of Parramatta council as Major Sponsor and the following WSABE 2020 Category Sponsors: AAA City Removalist, The Alternative Board, Australian Turf Club, DOOLEYS Lidcombe Catholic Club, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Energy Australia, HomeWorld, Parramatta Light Rail, GRENKE, Parra Leagues, University of New England and Wenty Leagues.

In 2020, WSABE operated within a wider geographical region for eligibility and enabled opportunity to work collaboratively with councils and local business chambers from across the entirety of Greater Western Sydney. Under this collaborative approach, members of the ‘WSABE Alliance’ worked in conjunction with the platform to showcase businesses success and resilience from their respective regions. This included areas covering the West from the Hills to the Blue Mountains, the South West from Campbelltown to Canterbury-Bankstown, and the Inner West to Strathfield.

“WSABE has always been inclusive and this year we have reached out to additional chambers and councils encouraging all businesses to enter the awards and join the Western Sydney journey” says the Hon Alan Cadman OAM, WSABE Patron.

For thirty years, WSABE has maintained its status as a respected and established platform, largely due to its credibility based judging process.  Having now commenced, the judging process will entail an extensive assessment period during which subject matter experts, industry experts and businesses leaders collaboratively assess all entries to ensure that a congregated score and business feedback can be provided for each entry.

Finalists are set to be announced on 18th September 2020, whilst WSABE winners will be revealed at the highly anticipated WSABE Gala on Friday 20th November 2020 at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in the presence of Senator the Hon. Marise Payne, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women. With an immersive ‘Great Gatsby’ theme in store for the platform’s 30th Anniversary, all members of Greater Western Sydney’s business community are encouraged to show their support and purchase their tickets here
