• Parramatta Light Rail

    About Us

Parramatta Light Rail will create new communities, connect great places, and help both locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. The project will be built in stages to keep pace with the thousands of new houses and jobs being created in Western Sydney.

Stage 1 of the Parramatta Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via Parramatta CBD and Camellia. It will connect Parramatta’s CBD to key areas being transformed by the NSW Government and private investment, including the Westmead Precinct, the Parramatta North Growth Centre, new Western Sydney Stadium, the Camellia Town Centre, the New Powerhouse Museum and cultural precinct on the Parramatta River, the Telopea Precinct, Rosehill Gardens Racecourse and three Western Sydney University campuses. The service is expected to commence in 2023.

In October 2017, the NSW Government announced the preferred route for Stage 2 which will connect to Stage 1 via the Parramatta CBD to Ermington, Melrose Park, Wentworth Point and Sydney Olympic Park. A Final Business Case for Stage 2 is expected to be completed in late 2018, with an investment decision and details on the timing of construction to follow.
