A record 51 NSW Government-sponsored events will focus on
starting and running a solo, home-based and micro business, the then Minister for
Small Business, Peter Primrose, announcedlast week.
MicroBiz Week will run from May 31 to June 4 in Sydney
and 13 regional centres across NSW.
"Micro businesses are one of the fastest growing
sectors in the NSW economy, making up about two-thirds of the State's 650,000
small- and medium-sized enterprises," Mr Primrose said.
"The Government is committed to supporting the
growth and development of micro-businesses, which is why we are proud to
support MicroBiz Week for the fifth year in a row."
Mr Primrose said the theme of this year's MicroBiz Week
would be Connecting for Profit, which will see a range of experts showing how
micro-business operators can increase profit and grow their business using
cutting-edge technologies.
"The week provides a great opportunity for
micro-business operators to hear the latest thinking and learn about the newest
business ideas.
"Micro-businesses are growing at a rapid rate, with
technology changing the way people conduct business.
"Some of the many challenges for micro-business
operators are finding customers, combating isolation, networking with peers,
virtual business activities and online opportunities.
"These are all topics that will be addressed in this
year's series of events throughout the week.
"Through the events of MicroBiz Week the NSW
Government is helping these business owners enhance their skills and develop
their businesses," Mr Primrose said.
