Paul Matthews Managing Director Matthews Folbigg, when it
was announced that Matthews Folbigg had been selected as the 2008 Suncorp
Business of the Year at the Presentation Night at the Roxy on 2nd
September made an impromptu executive decision to donate 50% of the $10,000.00
winner’s cheque to the Salvation Army and 50% to Parramatta Mission. The
presentation took place at the Chamber’s Business After Five on Tuesday 14th
October, hosted by Rydges Hotel.
Mr Matthews said at the hand over of the cheques
that Matthews Folbigg has for over 5 years had a culture of corporate
responsibility and had selected these 2 charities as being worthy of the
company’s ongoing support. Mr Matthews also encouraged other businesses at the
Business After Five to support the work of the Salvation Army and Parramatta
Mission.
Mr Chris Bertinshaw General Manager Parramatta Mission said that the money would
be used to replace the old stove at Meals Plus.
The Parramatta Chamber of Commerce will again support Parramatta Mission this
year by providing an Aussie Christmas BBQ for the homeless at Meal’s plus on
Thursday 11th December.
President of the Chamber Roman Dechnicz cooks steaks
and sausages while other members of the chamber serve the homeless. Many
Chamber members donate time, cash and food to ensure the success of the
barbeque.
