Celebrating tough times
The Christmas social scene is
upon us with invitations seemingly cascading in like confetti. At the end of
what has been a particularly tough year globally and domestically some
celebrations are certainly in order. Those celebrations so much the better with
those who are colleagues, suppliers or clients; we're all in this together.
So busy socially is this time of
year that, although it is also the time of the Parramatta Chamber's centenary, celebrations
have been held over until the New Year.
It will be a particularly
poignant celebration for the Chamber, because over our 100 years our members
and officials have seen and done it tough; just like today. We have survived
the first great war; the misery of the great Depression, WWII, a variety of
recessions and the GFC.
Over the decades our members have
prospered and Parramatta has prospered; as a colony we were built on hardship.
But to still be here, to see how remarkable a city Parramatta has become means
there were also plenty of good times too.
At Christmas we will celebrate
the end of our working year and many of us will take a break. In the New Year
the Chamber will be there waiting, yet again; with some very special
celebrations.
