After eighteen years the
Suncorp Parramatta Regional Awards for Business Excellence are to become a
fully regional program known as the Suncorp
Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence it was announced today.
Parramatta Chamber of
Commerce President Trevor Oldfield said today the new-look
Suncorp Awards, an initiative of the Parramatta Chamber, were receiving strong
support from the Minister for Western Sydney David Borger.
Mr Borger today welcomed
the expansion of the program and urged businesses across Western
Sydney to enter the 2009 Suncorp Awards.
“I fully support the expansion
of the Suncorp Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence.
All companies across
Greater Western Sydney are eligible to enter this excellent Awards program and
show the rest of the region and beyond that they are strong players in Australia’s
third largest regional economy.”
Mr Oldfield said the
Suncorp Awards, which began in 1991, had evolved into a premiere event
– as a showcase of business excellence and for its annual Gala Awards
Presentation Night.
“In 2003, after moving
their NSW Business Banking headquarters to Parramatta, Suncorp Business Banking, chose
to partner with our Awards to help further its business objectives and support
business in its new ‘hometown’.” Mr Oldfield said.

community involvement and the Awards are a great way to contribute to the
recognition of successful local small business.” added Mr Brian Morris, NSW
Manager Business Banking, Suncorp.
The pinnacle of these
awards is the prestigious Suncorp Business of the Year Award which carries
prize money of $10,000 for the recipient, thanks to Suncorp Business banking
NSW. The prize was won last year by well-known Western
Sydney legal firm Matthews Folbigg.
The Suncorp Western Sydney
Awards for Business Excellence is now seeking category sponsors to be a part of
its new-look program.
Sponsors receive an enormous
package of exposure, both in the run up to the Annual Gala Presentation Night,
during the big night itself, and with the post-awards events that run for
several weeks after the Gala.
2009 will also see a new venue for the much
anticipated Annual Gala Presentation Night, with Glenn Wheeler promising to
host a fantastic evening.
