Recently,
together with Brian Morris head of Business Banking NSW Suncorp, Naming Rights
Sponsor of our awards, Paul Ogilvy, Awards Chairman, Paula Roden the Chamber’s
Executive Officer and I had great pleasure of presenting a framed collage of
excerpts from the students performance at our Gala Presentation night as a token
of our appreciation for the support of our Awards program by the staff and
students of the Harris Park based Australian International Performing Arts High
School at a special assembly at the school. The school its and students have
been supporting the awards for over 5 years.
Students
from the school performed at the presentation ceremony for the Suncorp
Parramatta Regional Awards for Business Excellence at the Roxy Theatre in
September last year brining a little of the Moulin Rouge to Parramatta. The
Chamber presented the school with a framed picture of students from the night.
During
the assembly, a group of students from the school choir entertained us with a
beautiful and moving rendition of Amazing Grace. The depth of talent of these
students is breathtaking.
I totally
support the comments of our Chairman Paul Ogilvy who expressed how uplifting it
was to be at the school and feel the enthusiasm that these students have for
their craft.
In a
time when all we seem to hear are the bad stories involving young people it is
encouraging to see that there are many young people out there who have a talent
and are prepared to work hard to improve themselves.
