A
Night of Excellence as Minister pledges Support
Minister for Western
Sydney, David Borger, has announced continued and greater support for the
Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence. Speaking at the Suncorp Bank and
Parramatta Council sponsored awards gala presentation dinner, conducted by the
Parramatta Chamber of Commerce, Minister Borger paid tribute to the Chamber's
20 years of promoting and organising the awards and pledged to increase the NSW
government's funding from $ 10,000 to $15,000.
But the night really
belonged to the record number of entrants and finalists and, of course, to the
winners, headed by DMC Advertising Group. Last year managing partner Stephanie
Dale took out the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, so it was no surprise to see
her award winning achievements and planning culminate this year in the major
award.
Last year's winner for
Starting a New Business, the young dynamo Rowan Kunz took out the prized Young
Entrepreneur of the Year Award with his rapidly growing education business Art
of Smart. Vanessa Cullen's meticulously customer focused business Forward
Thinking Design took out the coveted Excellence in Customer Service Award.
This years record
entries came from such diverse industries as Colleges, Career Counsellors, Marketers,
Hospitality, Financial and Employment Service providers and even an entertainer
with the judges unanimous on only one thing; this was the highest overall
standard of entries /businesses in the Awards' 20 year history.
An excellent result
for business in Western Sydney considering these awards covered the period of
the Global Financial Crisis and its aftermath.
