Parramatta Chamber Lobbying for our Community
In the lead up to the forthcoming State
election the Parramatta Chamber has been busy making clear to the candidates
what is needed in Parramatta and its surrounding communities. Both parties have
made approaches to the Chamber for assistance in understanding our region and
its needs, as the gateway to the powerful Western Sydney economy.
Already the Chamber Executive has had
meetings with the opposition leader Barry O'Farrell, Michael Gallacher (Shadow
Police Minister) and the NSW Communities Department which incorporates the
Office of Western Sydney.
The Chamber has been honored by the
invitation to me as Chamber President to participate as a panelist in the
crucial Economic Forum -Parramatta the
Next CBD - to be held on 8th March.
This event will feature presentations from
the Premier of NSW the Hon. Kristina Keneally and the Leader of the opposition
Mr Barry O'Farrell. At the same event, the Hon. Anthony Albanese will detail
the Commonwealth's vision for Parramatta as a Major City and plans for
supporting the expansion of the Greater West with relevant transport projects,
governance reform and social infrastructure funding.
These meetings and presentations are more
than just electioneering; they provide both parties with the opportunity for
fine tuning their general policies to meet the real needs of the area and to
make real progress. It doesn't end on Election Day; that's really when it
starts again. Government continues whatever the outcome and the Chamber will
continue its lobbying and support for projects that benefit our community.
