Congratulations to New Lord Mayor

The Parramatta Chamber of Commerce congratulates the new Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Clr John Chedid on his election to the office.  The Chamber looks forward to working with Clr Chedid in the same professional and cordial fashion it has with previous Lord Mayors.

As President of the Chamber, I am particularly pleased with Clr Chedid's open commitment to work closely with stakeholders for the benefit of the business and residential communities. He also speaks of Parramatta being the model of economic growth in this country, setting benchmarks for other cities to follow. The community needs a Council with vision and commitment as the spearhead for both business and general community initiatives; the Chamber strongly supports the Lord Mayor on this.

The Chamber will be seeking Clr Chedid's strong support for improved infrastructure, in particular the proposed rail link; something which seems to have slipped somewhat under the Opposition leader Barry O'Farrell's radar. We look to Council to lobby all parties in State government on behalf of our city and its importance to the State's economy. 

A focus on improved services must be high on the Lord Mayor's agenda to ensure continued growth within the business Community.  Clr Chedid has taken on these responsibilities and will need to exhibit strong leadership to champion the needs of Parramatta and deliver professional growth services and sound development strategies from the Council.
