What Does The Chamber
Mean To You
Chambers of
Commerce fulfils a variety of roles centred on the championing of business
interests in their area. There is no strict definition of the role of a Chamber
of Commerce and therefore Chambers evolve to match the wants and needs of their
constitute organisations.
Ask anyone
who has ever had anything to do with a Chamber of Commerce about what the
Chamber's role was and most likely the first, and often only, response will be
networking functions. This would be true of Parramatta's Chamber because for
many years we have held outstandingly successful networking events.
As 2009
draws to an end and we all begin that annual reflection on our successes, the
Chamber also reviews its year's activities and looks to increase its relevance
and value to its members.
Is there an
obstacle facing your business which the Chamber could raise during its close
and regular discussions with representatives of all three levels of government?
In 2008 a
Chamber member, a major events venue in Parramatta, was expecting to have
permission withdrawn to host, for the first time, a round of a significant
sporting competition. The Chamber joined with this member to face this
challenge and brought the economic benefits to Parramatta to the attention of
the relevant authorities. The event went ahead, Parramatta received a vital
economic injection with a broad spectrum of businesses benefitting, with the
event already having been staged for a second successful time in 2009.
Being a
Chamber member gives you a say in the issues your business faces, whilst also
providing excellent opportunities for business enhancing networking.
